Week 11: Carolina Panthers

Saturday, November 19th, 2011

The Lions were humbled last week in Chicago as they turned over the ball 6 times and the special teams once again let Devin Hester be Devin Hester as he returned a punt for a touchdown. It was an ugly loss but a loss that the Lions needed because hopefully it proved to them that to beat a playoff team you can’t make mistakes.

This week the Carolina Panthers come to town led by phenomenal rookie QB Cam Newton and hopefully the Lion’s can get a much needed win over a team that they should beat.

The Lion’s have a better offense and defense than the Panther’s and hopefully will have there way with them and if all goes well the Lions can rest their starters in the fourth quarter as the Lion’s are coasting to their 7th win of the season.

Unfortunately this is the Lion’s and I just don’t see them blowing out the Panther’s. The Panther’s have only won 2 games this year but of their 7 losses 6 of them were within a touchdown. This team is scrappy and with Cam Newton slinging the ball around this team could give the Lion’s fits.

The Lion’s win this game, but the Panthers will stick around long enough to make it interesting.

Week 3: Minnesota Vikings

Saturday, September 24th, 2011

I must first apologize to my beloved Lions for doubting them as much as I did last week in the historic beat down of the Kansas City Chiefs 48-3. The defense forced six turnovers and had the game won by halftime after a sluggish start. Matthew Stafford tossed 4 touchdown passes and spent most of the fourth quarter on the sidelines relishing in the largest margin of victory in franchise history. It was a day that as a Lions fan was like Christmas, too bad it was only the second game of  the season and we still have 14 games to go, starting this week with the Vikings.

Oh, those Minnesota Vikings who through most of their history have put many a beating on the Lions, these same Vikings have been more than dominant over the years especially at home where the Lions haven’t won since 1997, and even back then it took a last second pass to seal the 14-13 victory.

Fast forward to 2011 where the 2-0 Lions enter the Metrodome to take on the 0-2 Vikings in a game that will say a lot about where this Lions team has come and is going. First, things first this Lions team is  a good football team, not great but good and I have no doubt they will win a lot of games this year. Unfortunately I don’t seeing them winning in the land of a thousand lakes.  Why? This is a dangerous Vikings team who have dominant defensive front and of course the incredible Adrian Peterson, who in his short NFL career has had more than his way with the Lions.

All the National experts have picked this Lions team to beat the Vikings on Sunday, and I think they will be surprised when a very mad and underrated Vikings team upsets the Lions.  Adrian Peterson will be Adrian Peterson and Donovan McNabb will return to his glory days as the Vikings get their first win against the Lions and continue their dominance of the Lions in the Metrodome.
