3 Games in a Row

Wednesday, December 29th, 2010

3 in a row baby! Wow not since 2007 have the Lions been able to do this.  Am I drinking the Lions kool-aid? Your better believe it, I’m drinking every bit of it. Why am  I so high on this team and what the future holds?  Look no further than over the past 3 weeks and their 3 game win streak, these 3 wins haven’t come against the NFL’s worst no they have come against teams  with winning records and two of them were on the road.

This team still has a long way to go, but for the first time since Wayne Fonts walked the sidelines of the Silver-dome, the Lions are finally becoming an NFL caliber team who week in and week out can compete with just about anybody.

A Win is a Win

It’s a win who cares if it was one of the ugliest games in recent memory, a win is a win. In a game that no one expected the Lions to win let alone be competitive, Detroit did the impossible and won a game that they never should have.

Also, for the first time in a long long the Lions made the plays to win the game and the Packers didn’t as dropped passes, penalties, and lack of a running game doomed Green Bay to their first loss to Detroit in 5 years. This win goes to the Lions-D who hassled Aaron Rodgers and Matt Flynn all day and held the Packers to a total of 66 yards on the ground. They also made the plays to help the Lions seal their 3rd victory of the year and possibly give a very faint glimmer of what this Lions D can be in the future.

This was a good win for the Lions as it snaps a 19 game losing streak to division rivals, but the Lions are still a bad team and for them to make any progress in turning the corner, they need to win 2 in row or a game on the road. Until this happens the Lions will continue to be a bad team that occasionally beats the teams they shouldn’t.
