Roar Restored!

Tuesday, December 27th, 2011

An apology to my beloved Detroit Lion’s and my belief that they would lose to the San Diego Charger’s on Christmas Eve.

My pessimistic attitude towards the Lion’s  has come from over 26 years of heartbreak at the hands of the Detroit football Lion’s, and it appears that old habit’s die hard as I not only picked the Lion’s to lose on Saturday but to lose by at least two touchdowns to the Charger’s.

Boy, was I wrong as the Lion’s and not only won the game on Christmas Eve they completely dominated the Charger’s from start to finish and earned their first playoff spot in 12 years.

It’s been so hard for me to not expect the other shoe to drop and the same ‘ol Lions to rear their ugly heads this season, but again and again the Lion’s have shut-up their critic’s and even some of their fans (myself included) and simply put, Won. Good Teams know how to win football games, and simply put the Lion’s are not a only good team but can become a great team!

The Lion’s are winners, yes the Detroit Lion’s are a great football team and the future looks nothing but bright for our beloved Leo’s. I now know  and even believe that for the first time in a long time that the “Roar is Restored” in Detroit. Go Lions!

4 In A Row!

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

I was wrong about the last game of the year I picked the Vikings to upset the Lions and wow was I wrong. The Lions beat the Viking 20-13 for the their fourth victory in a row and finished their 2010 campaign with a 6-10 record.  A month ago the Lions were 2-10 and looked dead in the water after yet another heartbreaking loss to the Bears. Instead of folding it up the Lions did something that no one expected, they started winning . Not only did they win one game, they won 4 and of those 4 wins, three were against teams (Green Bay, Tampa Bay and Miami) with winning records.

This team all season had said week after week that they were close to turning the corner and now after an amazing month of December I am starting to believe it. Yes, the Lions-Kool-Aid is again flowing and the excitement and optimism going into the 2011 season is incredible. Will it translate into wins in 2011? That is yet to be determined but with the roster that Martin Mayhew and Coach Schwartz have assembled this team has no excuse of not finishing with at least 8 wins and vying for a playoff spot.

Until then, Lion fans can kick back and for the first time in a long time can rell know that there is  a good yes I said good football team in Detroit. GO LIONS!
